  • Cameroon boss Broos hits out at Confederations Cup organisation

Hugo Broos has criticised Confederations Cup organisers after Cameroon's tardiness was questioned in St Petersburg. The African champions were 40 minutes late for a scheduled training session on Tuesday and failed to show up punctually for a media conference at 11:00am local time the next day, prompting one sarcasticRussian journalist to query whether they would be ready for their 6:00pm kick-off against Australia on Thursday evening. The usually affable Broos took umbridge and laid the blame for Cameroon's timekeeping issuessquarely at the door of the tournament organisers. The Belgian said: "The answer is it is not our fault."I have been annoyed twice already. First of all in Moscow because we arrived an hour late to the stadium for our match because of traffic and on Tuesdaywe had the same problem."The bus arrived 45 minutes late at the hotel and then we got stuck in traffic here in St Petersburg so it is not our fault and I think the organisation team must review the way teams are transferred from the hotel to the stadium."I was extremely annoyed once again Will Keane has signed a one-year contract with Ipswich Town. The former Manchester United youth product spent the second half of last season on loan at Portman Road from Hull City.Keane was a free agentBalthazar at the end of last season and decided to return to Ipswich. The club were relegated to League One following a disappointing 2018/19 campaign.because when you have to train and you have a programme and then you arrive back at the hotel and have to have dinner at 10pmit is really unpleasant, so from that point of view it must be reviewed."They have to review the transfers for the World Cup next year and how you Matteo Darmian. The Serie A champions fear they could lose Joao Cancelo this summer with Manchester City among the clubs interested. That means they are eyeing up replacements and Darmian is once again on their radar, says The Sun.The 29-year-old form will move teams from the hotel to the training stadiumcontent_img and for the matches."Cameroon played well in their opening game before going down to late goals from Chile's Arturo Vidal and Eduardo Vargas on Sunday in Moscow. And Broos believes the experience gained from playing against different nations, and different styles, will only help his side in the long run.He added: "To take part in this tournament is a great experience for us. Every time you playagainst a team with a different style it brings more wealth to our group so I am happy to see we played well against Chile and I hope this will be confirmed in the next two matches."I hope we can get through thegroup phase butif we play the same as we did against Chile and we don't qualify for the semi-finals I will not be disappointed."

"We opened Clairefontaine in 1988 – we won the World Cup in 1998."But to win something you need to have a good team with an outstanding player. France had Zidane when he was playing. We haven't won Fabisince he stopped."Portugal, who with all due respect are a good-zo Montella says there's no reason for Federico Chiesa to leave.New Viola owner Rocco Commisso insists Chiesa won't be sold for less than €100m.And Montella is 'very pleased' that the Italo-American billionaire is keeping to his promise.“Presidento-average side that work hard, is well-organised and has a good coach… and have Cristiano Ronaldo. That makes a difference."For France, Dimitri Payet was not exceptional enough last summer. Maybe in the future we will have Antoine Griezmann."Look at the teams that win. Argentina with Diego Maradona. Portugal with Ronaldo. France with Zidane… you need a player like that."Even the Champions League final, Juventus and Real Madrid. Who won? The team that had Ronaldo. Costa is the final piece of the jigsaw, maybe along with Cesc Fabregas as well,” Minto, a former defender for the Blues, told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“If he can score the goals, which he has been doing in pre-season, there is every chance of Chelsea winning the title.“I think it will be between Chelsea and Manchester City and I have got a sneaky suspicion for Chelsea. • Everything you need to know about Arsenal’s surprise potential midfield signing

According to reports, Arsenal have bizarrely handed a two-day trial to French second division midfielder Alharbi El-Jadeyaoui. The French-born Moroccan international currently plies his trade at Ligue 2 side Angers, but is believed to have been on Arsenal’s scouting list for a while, with Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger hoping to find a diamond in the rough, by inviting him to England to take a closer look. But just who is he? talkSPORT’s transfer spotlight takes a look. Alharbi El-Jadeyaoui 8 August, 1986 Strasbourg, France Midfielder Angers Morocco (1 cap/0 goals)Arsenal’s transfer activity this summer has been less than desirable, with the Gunners only securing young attacker Yaya Sanogo and finding themselves rebuffed in the quest to land a big name signing. This doesn’t seem to bother club boss Arsene Wenger though, with the Frenchman scouring his homeland for the next undiscovered talent, by handing a trial to Alharbi El-Jadeyaoui. Born in Stasbourg, France, El-Jadeyaoui has had a rather unspectacular career thus far, spending his entire professional life in the lower reaches of French league football. After turning professional with AS Beauvais in 2002, El-Jadeyaoui spent two seasons in the northern town, before switching to Tours. A season later and he was on the move again, finding a home at Chateauroux, where he remaipected to lead Manchester United's title charge. The 17-year-old will likely feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this season after a strong preseason showing. But United veteran Matic has moved to lower expectations of the talented forward. He saidned for three campaigns. During his time at Chateauroux, El-Jadeyaoui earned a call-up to the French U21 national side, a reward for his impressive development with the Ligue 2 side. However, it would ultimately bef Danny Rose on loan from Tottenham. The England left back was eager to move to a club where he could play regularly. He has been a peripheral figure at Spurs since the arrival of Jose Mourinho. And Rose credits the intense support Newcastle get from th the only call-up the attacking midfielder received and his international career was placed on hold. Given his dual-heritage, El-Jadeyacontent_imgoui was eligible to play for Morocco and declared his allegiance for the north African country, making his senior international bow in June, coming on as a substitute in Morocco’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Tanzania. After three years with Chateauroux, El-Jadeyaoui was snapped up by Stade Brest for whom he had arguably his best season to date, scoring six times in 31 matches as Brest finished the season in an unremarkable 14th place. El-Jadeyaoui’s performances caught the eye of Blackburn Rovers, who handed him a trial, although he would end the summer as a Guigamp player, with the club paying around £220,000 for his services. His two years at Guingamp were largely uneventful and he was released, joining current side Angers on a free transfer last summer. His form for Angers though was good, and his four goals and ten assists in 35 matches has reportedly alerted Arsenal, with head scout Gilles Grimandi’s glowing reference prompting the Gunners to hand him a trial. Perhaps even more intriguing though have been revelations that the Moroccan international shares an agent with out-of-favour Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.“For Alharbi, this is something else. We’re not in a negotiation phase yet. Arsenal have watched him many times, with Morocco as well. We thought it would be nice for him to spend time in England. It is rewarding for him and it is rewarding for us.” – Angers general manager Olivier Pickeu on the player’s surprise trial. What do you make of El-Jadeyaoui? Should Arsenal make a move for the relatively unknown quantity? Let us know your thoughts below.

  • The derby of errors

The Barcelona derby came at a perfect time for Espanyol to try and cause an upset for their city rival's title hopes. Real Madrid's win against Valsey as a boy.And the new crowd favourite laughed at the suggestion he would have had letters printed on the back of the top.“I had a United jersey but no player name on the back," he told Inside United, the official club magazine. “It was one of encia allowed them to go three points clear at the top of the table, forcing Luis Enrique's team to win at Cornellá el-Prat to go level with Madrid.A brave and intense Espanyol began the game holding a high line and, with nothing but pride at steak for tcontent_imghe hosts, they had the opportunity to take the lead early on. Caicedo split the defence wide open, and Jurado burst into the box to scuff his shot wide of Ter Stegen.Barcelona took a step forward, with Neymar and Messi coming into play, while Espanyol began to fall deeper into their own half. Chances were few and far apart for both sides, as Barcelona dominated possession but struggled to break down the hard-working Espanyol defence.Espanyol managed to hold Enrique's side to a frustrating goalless draw as they headed for the break, after neither side managed to record a single shot on goal in the entire forty-five minutes. All of Espanyol's efforts in defence were thrown down the drain in the early minutes of the second half, with Jurado making a terrible mistake. The former Real Madrid man, who had missed the best chance of the match in the first half, played a horrendous back pass which was aimed at nobody. Luis Suarez was set clear on goal and the Uruguayan did not hesitate to slot the ball past Lopez with the outside of his right boot.Espanyol managed to respond well and open up the match to award chances to both sides. Though Barcelona could have benefitted from a slower pace, Enrique's side surged forward in search of a second.Messi surged forward in what is rapidly becoming a trademark run down the middle, which completely opened up the Espanyol defence and, as it looked like the little magician was about to shoot, he found Rakitic out wide for the Croatian to calmly pass the ball into the net.It was game over for the hosts after that, with the away team pressing for another goal. And it was harsh for Espanyol as yet another defensive blunder allowed Suarez Edento pick up the pieces inside the area, go around Lopez and blast home his double. The first half was sluggish from Enrique'-old playmaker was widely linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer but a move never materialised, with Maddison yet to rule out a move to Old Trafford. He told the Mirror: “I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me tos team, but in the final thirty minutes they were superb and they deserved to win. The Catalans return to the top as it looks neitherside is going to let go in their bid to lift La Liga trophy.

  • Juve always get it right – Pirlo

Juventus have always got it right in the games that matter this season and have a great chance to win the Champions League, according to Andrea Pirlo.Having already secured the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles, a first treble inHallie Juve's history is on the cards when they take on Real Madrid in Saturday's Cardiff final. The Bianconeri's previous attempt to claim all three trophies in the same season fell at the final hurdle in 2015, with Pirlo part of the side that suffered a 3-1 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League showpiece in Berlin.Although the experienced midfielder now plies his trade at New York City, he will be cheering on Juve and believes they have proved their ability to come out on top at crucial moments this season."We're here: Juve-Real, the Champions League final," Pirlo wrote in La Stampa."I say 'we' because – even if I won't be on the pitch this time – I will be your number one fan. Today I play in New York so I'll watch once the game has started, but between keeping an eye on my phone and running home, I won't miss it."Every now and then I think back to that night two years ago in Berlin, because when you lose a final, it comes back into your thoughtheir erratic form this season. As the halfway point of the campaign approaches, United have beaten Manchester City, Leicester, Chelsea and Tottenham. They are also the only team to take points off Liverpool. But there have also been shock defeats by Crs and you'd love to play it again. Unfortunately for me, I can't do that, but I am happy for them."And I am happy for Gigi [Gianluigi Buffon]. He's been waiting a lifetime to lift this cup. I hope he wins it, after coming so close at other times. I say this as a friend and a former team-mate, someone who knows him well. He deserves it, it's the only thing he's missing."I read that he could win the Ballon d'Or; he hasn't surprised me, not even in this extraordinary season, because when he truly believes in something and has that objective in his head, he'll do anything to reach it."Similarly, I was not surprised by Juve, even if it's not easy to win everything, as I knew this season they were targeting the Champions League. I expected nothing other than this."I remember in December, when I went back to Turin and had dinner with Gigi, chatting to other former team-mates too, they were convinced they had a great squad and could go all the way."There was that confidence and hunger, which I too have known. A final is not yet the end and Real are a great team; there's reason to fear, but th is a target for Manchester United and Jucontent_imgventus ahead of the January market. He has also been linked with Bayern Munich. However, Alf Ingve Berntsen, who coached Haaland as a junior with Byrne, told Goal: "The tactical requirements in Bayern and Liverat's true of all opponents at this level."If Juve face this test the way they know how, they've got a big chance of winning. At the end of the day, this season they never got it wrong in the games that matter."I know that in July you will come to play around these parts and I'll visit. I'd happily say hello to the cup."
